QuestionsLand Clearing FAQ

Straight answers to the questions landowners ask most before clearing property.

How much does forestry mulching cost?

Pricing depends on acreage, how dense the brush is, terrain, access and your goals for the land. Fill out our form for a free, site-specific estimate, or read what affects the cost of forestry mulching.

Do you haul the material away?

No — and that’s a benefit. Forestry mulching processes the growth in place. It leaves a natural mulch layer that protects soil, helps prevent erosion and eliminates the need for burn piles.

How long does a project usually take?

Because we use commercial-grade equipment like the Bobcat T590 and heavy-duty mulching attachments, many residential and standard acreage projects are completed in just 1 to 2 days.

What areas do you serve?

We’re based in Gordonville, TX near Lake Texoma and provide heavy-duty land clearing and tractor services across Grayson County, the Dallas–Fort Worth area, and the greater Texas and Oklahoma regions. See our service areas.

Are you insured?

Yes, Big Toys is fully insured. Ask us for a certificate of insurance if you need one for your records, HOA or lender.

What’s the difference between forestry mulching and brush hogging?

Brush hogging uses a tractor and rotary cutter for grass, weeds and light brush in open areas. Forestry mulching uses a mulching head on a tracked machine to grind thick brush, cedar and small trees. Many properties need both. Brush hogging · Forestry mulching

Can you keep the trees I want?

Yes. Selective clearing is a core advantage of mulching. Flag or show us the keepers and we clear around them.

Do I need a burn permit?

No. Because nothing is burned, mulching avoids burn permits and county burn bans entirely.

What time of year is best for land clearing?

We clear year-round. Late fall and winter are popular because foliage is down and visibility is better, but drier months can mean firmer ground. See our guide to the best time to clear land in Texas and Oklahoma.

Will the land stay clear?

Cedar usually doesn’t come back once mulched, but many other species resprout. Brush hogging once or twice a year is the easiest way to keep cleared land open.

What should I do to prepare?

Mark property lines and trees you want to keep, point out hazards like old fencing, wells, septic systems, buried lines and stumps, and make sure we have gate access.
